Beyond atheism

Believing there is no God means all the suffering in the world isn't caused by an omniscient, omnipotent force that isn't bothered to help or is just testing us, but rather something we all may be responsible for, something we all may be able to help others with in the future. No God means the possibility of less suffering in the future.

I feel it the same like Penn. Read more here.

You can believe anything that you want. Whether it is true/not true is something else. Probably the world would be a better place if there were no religion, but that is something entirely different. If there is a God, He/She/It did not invent Religion. All of them say that they are the ONE, but who knows. The real TRUTH is hard to find.

All religions can't be true. And since every religion is false in eyes of followers of some other religion, there is only one conclusion - all are equally wrong.

If one is false, then all others are FALSE. I like your CONCLUSION :)

Their ideas were good, but they are more EVIL than GOOD :(

Terry Pratchett was right, when he said:
"There is a rumour going around that I have found God. I think this is unlikely because I have enough difficulty finding my keys, and there is empirical evidence that they exist".

The worst thing is that, here in Italy, we have to face constantly the Word of the Pope and the political influence of the Vatican.
Too bad... (as my english :-p )

@Babu

You don't have to hear the pope, you can always not LISTEN. Like people who think that they have to preach, you can always not HEAR THEM.

I don't listen to pope Nazinger, as many italians.
But Berlusconi and the 90% of the politicians do.

That doesn't make any sense. I believe in God, and I also believe that suffering in the world is something we are largely responsible for.
If people in the world choose not to believe in God, than how can they blame God for the problems in the world that result from their choice.
Essentially, the world has already collectively denied God and there is much suffering.
It's not naive to believe in God. What's really naive is believing in the 'goodness' of mankind.

I agree that not all religions can be true, but the second part of your argument is logically false.

About your god/nogod thought, think of 'god' as the superuser in a system. You cannot tell whether he's real until he kills(9) you :-) But in any case, don't expect any su to pet your head or mine or raise us on top(1), that won't happen. We're little miserable processes and we make all of our little divines for us. Plus that you have to make new slax, boohoo! :p

So stop executing data bus noise. Time to move to some real address space m8. Have a nice weekend. :-)
